The Schools

(Calle Cervantes, 24.)

The schools date back to 1923. They were built on what were the outskirts of the town – on the street Calle de las Fuentes (now Calle Colón) and Calle de la Enseñanza (now Calle Cervantes). However, due to urban expansion in the 20th century, the schools are now located in the very heart of Alboraya.

A Modernist Building

This is a clearly modernist building, featuring characteristic elements such as ironwork in the porch and fencing, pointed arches on the windows of the longitudinal halls, and decorative volutes above the porch.

The design masterfully combines functionality and beauty, creating a space that is pleasant, elegant, modern, and cheerful. The school was divided into two parallel halls, one for boys and one for girls, each further divided into three sections with an outdoor playground and lavatories. On rainy days, the children would take shelter under the porch of their respective hall.

Today, both sections of the building house the Pas a Pas Occupational Center.
