The Municipal Slaughterhouse
(Calle Meliana, s/n.)
The original project was drawn up in 1928, but construction didn’t begin until 1932. The main goal was to provide jobs and at the same time feed families, as Alboraya had a high number of unemployed residents at the time. Before its opening in 1933, livestock slaughter in Alboraya was done privately, without any sanitary controls.
The facility consists of five separate halls, each designated for a specific function—slaughter rooms, offal processing, pens, courtyard, locker rooms, and administrative offices—all arranged around a central courtyard that serves as a vestibule.
