The Christmas and Epiphany celebrations in Alboraya have been taken on by the Town Hall, which organizes a varied program of events.
On January 5th, the Three Wise Men arrive by boat at the marina in Port Saplaya, where they distribute sweets. Then, in a sign of how even the Wise Men have adapted to modern times, they take the municipal bus to Patacona, where they visit the children. Later that evening, the traditional Three Kings Parade takes place through the main streets and avenues of the town, ending at Plaza de la Constitución, where children receive their long-awaited gifts from Their Majesties. Another important tradition, organized by the Local Board of Holy Week Confraternities, the Town Hall, and the Parish of the Assumption, is the Nativity Scene Contest. Various Holy Week confraternities and individual participants craft and display their nativity scenes, turning them into true works of dedication and creativity. These exhibitions are usually held in the Casa del Conde de Zanoguera or in the headquarters of the confraternities.
The Parish of Alboraya also maintains its traditional religious celebrations, including Christmas carol singing in the church, Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve (Misa del Gallo), and New Year's Mass.
The seasonal gastronomy of this time of year has brought to Alboraya some traditional dishes shared with neighboring towns. Among them are the Christmas puchero (a rich stew) or olla, stuffed capon (chicken filled with vegetables and meat), and pelotas de Navidad (traditional Christmas meatballs), all accompanied by other festive treats such as turrón (nougat), which has become a staple in recent decades.
